Fremont County Commissioners lift fire ban
Posted: 08/14/2012 10:04:28 PM MDT
The Fremont County Commissioners on Tuesday approved a resolution suspending the county's fire ban at the request of Sheriff Jim Beicker. "I think the time is right," Beicker said. "I would still urge people to be careful. We're still significantly down on our annual rainfall."
He said the county has had seven or eight fires this season, none exceeding three acres in size and only one being human caused. Lightening caused the majority of the fires.
"This weather is still very fickle," Commissioner Ed Norden said. "We still have some very dry weather ahead."
As of noon Tuesday, the CaƱon City Fire Protection District rescinded its fire ban. The Bureau of Land Management also has lifted its ban in the county.
End:
Be safe while flying at the field. Please watch out for the use of tobacco products and any types of open flames still.
This appears to be good news for the residents of Fremont County and surrounding regions, even though the vegetation is still tinder dry in places, so please be cautious when outdoors, as we do not need any further wildfires.
